It's really disappointing when you've been waiting a week JUST for the doll to arrive, and that's beyond deciding which to get, and making the order, and having her be anything less than perfect.
I've gotten 5 Mattel dolls in the last year and a half, and there hasn't been a single problem with any of them. Perhaps I'm not incredibly picky, or it might be that I don't take them out of the box and inspect them for flaws (as it seems many here do), if I don't notice something, it's nowhere near big enough for me to get worked up over.
But, if I were you, I would try one more before not getting anymore Mattel dolls, ever. Get them to send you another one, and tell them you're incredibly unhappy, and are contemplating not purchasing dolls anymore, I bet they'll hop up and find a perfect Molly for you if you tell them that.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">In all fairness, the only doll I've ever had a problem with was my AGT I purchased in 1996. However, at 11, her horribly, horrible wig wasn't enough of a problem for me to wait ANOTHER week for my doll!!! This is the one who I rewigged, but even before having to do that her wig was horrid, I have pictures of when she first arrived, and you can see the wig scalp all over the place. But, out of 8 dolls, she's the only one I've ever had a problem with, and now after rewigging and freckling, she's my favorite doll.I mean come on. was PC this bad years ago?
I do agree that when you pay the nearly $100 per doll, (and countless extras afer that initial purchase), you should end up with a doll you really like. If you don't, it's their responsibility to make you happy, and continue to send you dolls until you do get one you like. I do think that if enough people complain about the quality, they may start to do something about it. Look at how they changed the new Felicity/Elizabeth outfits after they were terrible fits.
Good luck with finding your PM Molly!
In November I got 2 Josefinas - one had a scuffed up eye and the other the leg's were crooked - the way they were strung. I was really irritated. I didn't send them back, but was never able to bond with the scuffed eye. I ended up giving her to a freind, who couldn't see the scuff very well - unless she had her glsses on. So, she is happy, and couldn't care less about the scuff. The doll is happy. And I am happy. Wow, what happiness.
Anyway, I'm sorry that your doll was a screw up.
You'd think for $90 they could at least send a decent one.
